Description
There are certain foods that instantly bring back the tastes of home, and cookies are often at the top of that list. One of the best known types of Polish cookies are, Kołaczki. Though their origin is uncertain, most people of Polish decent will easily recognize them, as they were a common item found in the kitchen notebooks of our Polish grandmothers. These semi puff-pastry cookies fold in the middle over a dab of lightly sweet fruit jam (in a variety of flavors) and are finished off with a light dusting of powdered sugar. A delicate sweet and a classic Polish treat that will bring back the sentiments of childhood and home for many.
Ingredients
Wheat flour, butter, cream cheese, margarine, salt, eggs, baking powder, assorted fruit fillings (apricot, strawberry, plum, blueberry, raspberry, lemon)
How to defrost
Allow Kołaczki to thaw at room temperature or in your refrigerator.
Smacznego!
I enjoyed the kolachy and Paçzki, the cookie part was tender and fillings were good. The fillings for the paçzki seemed to be a homemade preserve style with the blueberry, cherry, and strawberry
I enjoyed everything I got but I live alone so I don't shop just for special occasions You will hear from again for another special occasion. Thank you
Its been so hard to find kolaczki since first Fingerhut and then Vesekys closed. I was thrilled to find these! Unfortunately one of the two packages came pretty well cracked and broken. Thankfully the kolaczki weren't broken though a few had the filling looking a bit dried out.
The cookies are a little too doughy for us, use to them being thinner. But were good.
What a special treat. These cookies are delicious. They remind me of the okden days when would purchase them from the market. I really enjoyed them
