This ham is a must on each Polish breakfast table. It’s usually served Polish style (open face sandwich call kanapka) made by putting one or two slices of ham on buttered rye bread (use Lithuanian or pumpernickel for healthier version of the sandwich), covered with a leaf of Boston lettuce, slice of tomato or if you wish a slice of hard broiled egg and sprinkled of chive and salt. This tasty ham will impress and become favorite of all your family.

This is one of the most popular Polish hams. It’s made from large piece of pork, trussed tightly with butcher twine to help the meat keep its shape and to hold in the juices during cooking and smoking. This 6 to 7 inch in diameter ham has a light rose pink skin and nice lean, pinkish meat with just a minimum of fat. It is very delicate, juicy and is perfect for salads and sandwiches.

 For the best results and authentic taste defrost it slowly in the refrigerator and keep it cool until serving.
